Preparation

In most cases the hot tub will need to be drained to access the damaged area.

Step 1: Clean the damaged area

Before beginning any repairs, clean the damaged area thoroughly. Use a cleaner or rubbing alcohol to remove any dirt or debris, and let the area dry completely.

Step 2: Prepare the polyurethane adhesive

Stormsure Flexible Repair polyurethane adhesive is a single part adhesive. For best results use between 15ºC - 25ºC.

Step 3: Apply the adhesive to the damaged area

Using a putty knife or a small spatula, apply the polyurethane adhesive to the damaged area. Make sure to spread the adhesive evenly, ensuring there are no air bubbles. The adhesive should be applied in a thick layer to ensure a strong bond.

Step 4: Let the adhesive cure (dry)

Allow the adhesive to cure (dry) completely. This can take between 24 and 48 hours to cure (dry) fully, depending on the conditions. The curing process takes longer in colder climates.

Step 5: Sand the repaired area (Optional)

If the repaired area is not completely flat against the surface, use a fine-grit sandpaper to sand down any bumps or rough spots. This will help create a smooth and even surface.

Step 6: Apply a sealant (or patch) or extra layer of adhesive (Optional)

To provide extra protection against water damage, you can apply a sealant over the repaired area.

You can use a silicone sealant, acrylic sealant, polyurethane Tape or polyurethane adhesive also acts as a sealant.

Or apply a patch. Apply a generous amount of adhesive to a patch, making sure to cover the entire surface. Spread the adhesive evenly over the patch, ensuring there are no air bubbles. Apply the patch over the damaged area.

Or apply another layer of adhesive over the already fully cured adhesive you applied previously. This will give an extra layer of protection and will further help prevent any water from seeping through and causing further damage.

Step 7: Test the repair

Once the repairs are complete, refill the hot tub and test it to ensure that everything is functioning properly.
